Speak Your Mind Student’s Book Starter includes 6 units, each spanning 10 pages. Each unit starts with a one-page Unit Opener designed to introduce the unit topic and elicit vocabulary and language students are already familiar with. This opener features a video to spark discussion.
Following the Unit Opener, there are four double-page lessons. Lessons 1-3 cover the core areas of GRAMMAR, VOCABULARY, READING, SPEAKING, LISTENING, PRONUNCIATION, and WRITING. Lesson 4, titled “Language and Life,” includes a reading task aimed at developing key 21st-century skills.
At the end of each unit, a REVIEW page offers additional practice for target vocabulary and grammar, along with a section that introduces a study skill (in odd-numbered units) or a profession related to the unit topic (in even-numbered units).
The Student’s Book concludes with a list of common irregular verbs and further grammar practice. Additionally, a Workbook is available in both print and digital formats.
The Student’s Resource Center provides Reading Worksheets for extra practice, lesson plans adapted from Macmillan’s OneStopEnglish, and CEFR correlations mapping course outcomes to the CEFR scale.
Speak Your Mind by Macmillan aims to develop young adults’ communication skills, with a focus on speaking English in both local and global contexts.
It offers strategies to boost students’ confidence in various situations.
Activities in Speak Your Mind encourage learners to consider different viewpoints, think critically, and articulate their ideas and solutions. Enhanced thinking and information processing lead to improved speaking skills, equipping learners to thrive and achieve their goals.
Speak Your Mind supports the development of effective communication skills in young adults.
