Speak Your Mind Student’s Book Starter consists of 6 units, each containing 10 pages. Firstly, each unit begins with a one-page Unit Opener. This opener is designed to introduce the unit topic and elicit vocabulary and language that students are already familiar with. Additionally, each Unit Opener features a video that can be used to prompt a discussion.
Next, following the Unit Opener, there are four double-page lessons. Specifically, Lessons 1-3 contain the core sections for GRAMMAR, VOCABULARY, READING, SPEAKING, LISTENING, PRONUNCIATION, and WRITING. Furthermore, Lesson 4, called “Language and Life,” includes a reading task that helps students develop key 21st-century skills.
Moreover, at the end of each unit, there is a REVIEW page that provides additional practice of the target vocabulary and grammar. This page also includes a section that introduces a study skill (in odd-numbered units) or a profession related to the topic of the unit (in even-numbered units).
In addition, at the end of each Student’s Book, there is a list of common irregular verbs and further practice of the target grammar covered in the book. Besides the Student’s Book, there is also a Workbook available in both print and digital formats.
Additionally, the Student’s Resource Center offers Reading Worksheets for extra practice, lesson plans adapted from Macmillan’s OneStopEnglish, and CEFR correlations mapping course outcomes to the CEFR scale.
