“Read and Understand” is a series of four workbooks designed for secondary or intermediate students who aim to enhance their reading comprehension skills. Each of the two lower-level books includes 15 reading texts that address social and contemporary issues relevant to teenagers. The two upper-level books contain 20 reading passages on various engaging topics, written in different text types.

Each unit begins with three or four Pre-Reading Questions to prompt students to think about topics related to the text. These questions encourage students to work in pairs or small groups, helping them develop their ability to make predictions and understand information by drawing on their own knowledge and experiences.

The Vocabulary Study section makes it easy for students to find the meanings of words and phrases highlighted in the reading passages.

Each workbook offers a variety of exercises, including individual written work and group oral discussions. Workbooks 1 and 2 feature exercises such as:

• Vocabulary Building: An essential tool for reading.
• Comprehension Questions: Presented in True/False and multiple-choice formats, as well as open-ended questions to test students’ understanding of the passages.
• Pair Work: Allows students to discuss questions orally with each other before writing down their answers.
• Spot the Error: Provides sentence correction questions to help students revise their grammar knowledge.
• Your View: Includes questions that stimulate students to think and express their opinions on topics related to the unit.

Additionally, students can listen to all the reading passages on an audio CD that accompanies each workbook.
