“Read and Understand” is a series of four workbooks designed for secondary or intermediate students who want to improve their reading comprehension skills. The two lower-level books contain 15 reading texts each, addressing social and contemporary issues relevant to teenagers. The two upper-level books offer 20 reading passages on a variety of engaging topics, presented in different text formats.

Each unit starts with three or four Pre-Reading Questions that encourage students to think about the topics related to the text. These questions promote pair or small group discussions, helping students develop predictive skills and draw on their own knowledge and experiences for better understanding.

The Vocabulary Study section helps students easily find the meanings of highlighted words and phrases in the reading passages.

Each workbook provides a variety of exercises, including individual written work and group oral discussions. Workbooks 1 and 2 include exercises such as:

• Vocabulary Building: Essential for enhancing reading skills.
• Comprehension Questions: Presented in True/False, multiple-choice, and open-ended formats to test students’ understanding of the passages.
• Pair Work: Allows students to discuss questions orally with each other before writing down their answers.
• Spot the Error: Contains sentence correction questions to help students review their grammar knowledge.
• Your View: Includes questions that encourage students to think and express their opinions on the unit’s topics.

Additionally, an audio CD accompanies each workbook, allowing students to listen to all the reading passages.
